Being a Chilling Effects Berktern

Sanna Kulevska - 2013 Berktern, July 01, 2013

Abstract:
Being a Berktern at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society is definitely the best way you can spend a summer. At the same time, it is most likely the smartest career move you can possibly make, independent of your background, whether you are a law student, media specialist, engineer or someone who just have a great interest in the future of the Internet.
Working on the Chilling Effects team will be an extremely interesting and exceptionally developing experience since you will get great responsibility when working on projects with lawyers and professors at the Berkman Center as well as redacting take-down notices and writing blog articles, to mention a few assignments that I got last summer. Most of all you will get an opportunity to work in an environment with the brightest brains in the world who all share the same interest for the Internet, but who attack it from different, very interesting, angles. On the Chilling Effects team you will collaborate with other Berkterns as well as doing independent studies. You will get great guidance from the team leader along with lots of inspiration from lawyers, researchers, guest speakers and professors who will surround you at the Berkman Center. Spending a summer in Cambridge opens up for a lot of fun activities in the spirit of the Internet along with serious work and outstanding opportunities to create great international professional contacts as well as long-lasting friendships.
